Zhongshan中山

Named after Sun Yat-sen (Sun Zhongshan), the city developed a unique "specialized town" economy where individual townships each dominated a specific product category. Guzhen became synonymous with lighting, producing the majority of China's decorative lamps and increasingly smart LED lighting. Xiaolan specialized in locks and hardware, now transitioning to smart locks and security devices. This model of hyper-specialization created dense supply chains and deep expertise within each township. Zhongshan is now upgrading these traditional clusters with IoT connectivity, smart manufacturing, and design capabilities as it faces competition from lower-cost inland regions.
